Ho (V/R), Dec. 18, GNA – Reverend Dr Bright Adonai, Chief Executive Officer of Adonai Estate and its subsidiary companies, has welcomed the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) Ho Oxygen City Project.
He described the project as a major boost to efforts to transform the Ho Airport enclave into a modern urban city.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Rev Dr Adonai said the project’s location near the Ho Airport aligned perfectly with a long-standing vision to direct development towards the airport corridor.
He recalled that during a post-2020 general election “thank-you tour” in Ho, President John Dramani Mahama stressed the need for development in the Volta Region to deliberately expand towards the Ho Airport.
“That message has stayed with me over the years,” he said. “It inspired us to initiate the Airport Golf City project, and today we are happy that our development shares boundaries with the TDC Oxygen City project.”

Rev Dr Adonai said the TDC project would open up the area and accelerate the provision of key infrastructure such as water, electricity and improved road networks, thereby enhancing the area’s development potential.
“With a major state institution like TDC coming in, development will be much faster. This enclave will soon become the kind of city we all desire,” he noted.
On competition, Rev Dr Adonai described the entry of TDC as healthy for the real estate sector, saying it would encourage innovation and higher standards.
“I believe in competition. When one player dominates a space, there is the risk of complacency. More industry players push everyone to re-strategise and deliver better value,” he said.
He clarified that TDC’s presence did not pose a threat to Adonai Estate, explaining that while TDC was largely focused on construction, Adonai Estate had, since 2014, concentrated mainly on land sales, earning it the nickname “Volta Land Supermarket,” and had only recently expanded into housing construction.
“Their coming will rather motivate us to strengthen our construction capacity. We already have a strong client base at Airport Golf City, and our second development, Leader City, directly shares boundaries with the TDC project,” he explained.
Rev Dr Adonai added that many clients within the estates were already engaging Adonai Estate to execute their housing projects, reinforcing confidence in the company’s long-term relevance in the area.
He also expressed optimism about collaboration, noting that he had followed TDC’s operations since its early days in Tema and had interacted with its leadership on several occasions.
“Development works best when the public and private sectors collaborate for a shared vision,” he said.
President Mahama, during his 2020 thank-you tour in Ho, had earlier praised the Airport Golf City initiative by Adonai Estate, explaining that the Ho Airport was conceived not as a standalone facility, but as a catalyst for urban development.
“When we built the Ho Airport, the intention was to develop the surrounding land into an airport city,” he said. “An airport must feed into something. We want gated estates, good roads, shopping malls and recreational facilities so that people can fly in, live comfortably and experience the full benefits of the Volta Region.”
He encouraged more private sector investors, particularly from the Volta Region, to take advantage of available land around the airport to drive development and unlock the area’s economic potential.
The development, which spans roughly 1,800 acres near the Ho aerodrome, is set to become Ghana’s largest gated community, aimed at transforming the enclave into a major urban centre, integrating modern residential housing, an industrial park, and a world-class health-tourism complex, positioning the Volta Region as a key driver of Ghana’s industrialisation.
