Kadjebi (O/R), Nov. 18, GNA — The Jasikan Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Parke-Davis Magyigbe, has commissioned a newly completed small-town water system for the Kute community in the Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region.
The project’s commissioning marks a significant milestone for residents who have long struggled to access clean and dependable water, offering renewed assurance of improved living conditions.
The modern facility—equipped with advanced treatment units, storage tanks, and an improved distribution network—is expected to supply safe drinking water to thousands of households within Kute and nearby communities.
According to officials, the system has been designed to meet both current and future demand, ensuring a sustainable water supply as the community develops.
Commissioning the project, Mr. Magyigbe emphasised that the initiative aligned with government’s broader agenda to expand potable water delivery across rural and peri-urban settings.
He noted that reliable water access remained central to improving public health outcomes, reducing waterborne diseases, and enhancing overall quality of life.
He urged residents to take collective responsibility for the facility, stressing the importance of proper management and regular maintenance to ensure its longevity. The Assembly, he said, was committed to supporting such community-centered infrastructure projects, which he described as critical to local development.
Community leaders, traditional authorities, and residents who attended the ceremony expressed profound gratitude for the intervention. Many described the project as “timely,” underscoring how previous reliance on unsafe or inconsistent water sources had affected daily life, health, and local economic activities.
The commissioning event drew officials of the Jasikan Municipal Assembly, traditional leaders, partner agencies, and other stakeholders, all of whom lauded the collaborative effort that led to the completion of the water system.
