Accra, Nov. 17, GNA – Dr Gameli Kewuribe Hoedoafia, Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCC), has called for a stronger partnership between the Church and the State to advance justice and peace in Ghana.

He cautioned that “our nation stands at a moral crossroads. We live in a time when truth is often compromised for convenience, when integrity is tested by greed, and when public trust is weakened by the actions of a few.”

The Executive Secretary said in such times, the Church must be the voice that calls Ghana back to its covenant of righteousness.

He made the call at the opening of the 2025 Plenary Assembly of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC).

Dr Hoedoafia, who chairs the ceremony, expressed deep gratitude to Bishop Peter Paul Angkyier and Archbishop Philip Naameh for their guidance and trust in his role.

He described the gathering as “a profound honour to stand before shepherds of faith who daily lift the nation before the throne of grace.”

Speaking on the theme, “A Synodal Church at the Service of Justice and Peace in Ghana,” he said a synodal Church walks with humility and unity.

He noted that this mission aligned with Ghana’s democratic vision of participatory governance, inclusive development, and equal voice for all citizens.

The IMCC Executive Secretary urged the Church to uphold its prophetic mission and reclaim the nation’s commitment to righteousness.

He quoted the Book of James, reminding the audience of the call to defend the vulnerable and pursue purity in public and private life.

Dr. Hoedoafia expressed the hope that the assembly would strengthen the Church’s role in promoting justice, peace, and national cohesion in line with the Reset Agenda of President John Dramani Mahama.
