Atebubu, (Bono East), Nov. 13, GNA –The Atebubu Traditional Council in the Bono East Region has raised more than GHC500,000 seed capital to tackle the perennial acute water shortage in the area.
At a fund-raising rally and excellent award held at Atebubu, chiefs and queens, business entrepreneurs, market women, traders and indigenes, home and abroad contributed voluntarily to support the water project, being executed by the council.
The ceremony was held to climax the annual “Foyawo” yam festival of the chiefs and people of Atebubu.
Ohempon Dr Yeboah Asiamah, the Paramount Chief of the Atebubu Traditional Area commended the people for their individual contributions, worrying that the water problem in the area was now an annual ritual having devastating impacts on the people.
He said the traditional council remained committed to solving the water problem and called for the government, urging corporate bodies and institutions to come to their aid too.
Some deserving individuals, teachers, students, and other government employees were awarded for their hard work and diverse contributions towards the holistic development of the area.
