Accra, Oct 20, GNA – President John Dramani Mahama on Monday met Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Acting Chief Justice; Dr Dominic Akurutinga Ayine, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice and Mr Johnson Akumoah Asiedu, Auditor-General to discuss measures for strengthening the enforcement of findings in the Auditor-General’s Report.
A statement issued by Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Presidential Spokesman and Minister of State in-charge of Government Communications, said at the meeting, it was agreed that special courts would be designated to handle cases arising from audit infractions contained in the Auditor-General’s Report, including the enforcement of surcharges and disallowances and prosecution of related criminal offences.
“The initiative forms part of Government’s broader effort to enhance accountability, deter misuse of public funds, and ensure prompt recovery of monies owed to the State,” it said.
