Anloga (W/R), Oct. 29, GNA – Cabinet has approved the construction of the Aiyinasi to Mumuni junction road to bring relief to residents along that area, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, has announced.
According to him, the move formed part of a comprehensive programme under the Big Push initiative rolled out by the government.
The road construction project is expected to open up the area to the southernmost part of the Ellembelle District and other areas including; Asankragua in the Amenfi West, Prestea and Tarkwa in the Western Region.
Mr Buah, also the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, said this when he commissioned six communities in the Aiyinasi-North, which have been connected to the national electricity grid.
He stated that President John Dramani Mahama had declared his intention to open up the area to enable the people along that stretch to tap the economic potentials to develop that area.
Mr Buah said with every community connected to the national electricity grid and their roads constructed, transportation and commerce would make the area keep pace with development.
“Aiyinasi-North area serves as the food basket of the Ellembelle District but bad roads continues to hamper the work of settler farmers who produce a chunk of cocoa and other food stuff, and most of the farm produce become perishable due to unmotorable roads coupled with unavailability of transport,” he said.
The MP said the government had concluded negotiations on the road and contractors would soon come to site to begin construction works.

Nana Etwe Kpanyinli, Chief of Aiyinasi, expressed profound gratitude to the MP for lobbying the government to award the road on contract.
He said the farmers needed good roads to cart their produce to the buying and market centres, and that the news had come at the right time.
He also thanked the government for its intention to establish three police stations at Santaso, Kwasikrom, and Dadwen to beef up security in those areas, which were far away from the major police station at Aiyinasi.
