Thousands usher in new Yam Season with traditional festivities in KpareKpare Newtown

Dambai (O/R), Sept 4, GNA – Thousands of people have gathered in KpareKpare Newtown to celebrate the new yam season with traditional festivities. 

The event was a vibrant display of the Konkombaculture, music, and rituals, dance, as community members came together to give thanks for the bounty of their ancestors. 

The celebration featured traditional rituals, including the sharing of yams and other food items, which were performed to invoke blessings and prosperity for the community and “Tigari, Patapaa shrines. 

The festive atmosphere was filled with the sounds of drums and other musical instruments, adding to the excitement and joy of the occasion. 

Community members dressed in their finest traditional attire, showcased their rich cultural heritage through various performances. 

The event was a testament to the community’s strong sense of unity and their commitment to preserving their traditions. 

The celebration of the new yam season has also provided a unique opportunity for “Tigari and Patapaa” worshippers to come together and give thanks for its blessings. 

The occasion served as a reminder of the shrine’s ensuring role in the lives of its devotees, providing guidance and protection in times of need. 

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) was informed that, many of the worshippers traveled from far and wide to offer their promised sacrifices and blessings from the shrine. 

Obor Mardank Babalija II, Headman of KpareKpare Newtown said, hundreds of worshippers were from Northern, Volta and Oti Regions to offer thanksgivings to the revered ‘Tigari and Patapaa” shrine. 

The chief priest, Gmabui Ukalu Yentumi Blacky, has attributed the positive changes in the lives of devotees to the shrines protection and blessings. 

According to him, many individuals who sought the shrine’s intervention have experienced significant improvements in their lives. 

He cited examples of devotees who had received bountiful harvest, achieved worth in their communities and celebrated the graduation of family members. 

Mr. Mathew Libowl and other sub-chief priests under ‘Tigari and Patapaa” shared their personal testimonies of how their beliefs and devotion to the shrines positively impacted their lives. 

They expressed their gratitude for the guidance, protection and blessings they received from the shrines.  

According to them, their faith and commitment to the shrine’s traditions brought them success, prosperity and good health.
