Bodi (WN/R), Sept. 08, GNA – The Bodi District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in the Western North Region has organised a community durbar at Sefwi Bodi to equip the youth on the rule of law in the fight against corruption.
Mr Emmanuel Awotwe, the Bodi District Director of NCCE, speaking at the engagement said it was the rights and responsibilities of every Ghanaian to be abreast with the laws that had been enacted to fight corruption among individuals and institutions in the country.
“So, with that right, you can go to the Bodi District Assembly or any department or government Agency to enquire about things they do so that everybody can perform their duties diligently to benefit all of us,” he said.
He said the project was being implemented with support from GIZ and co-funded by European Union.
That, he added, would put duty bearers in the position to work hard and avoid corrupt practices in the institutions.
Mr Isaac Ofori, the Bodi District Director of Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), took the people through the Whistle Blowers Act, and encouraged them to report any act of corruption to the appropriate authorities.
He said there were some acts of corruption going on in the district, and that the youth in the should take advantage of the law and speak out against wrongdoings in their communities.
Police Corporal Francis Kofi Baafi Opoku who represented the Bodi District Police Command, also encouraged the people to report any corrupt activity to the police for them to deal with such perpetrators.
