Keniago, (Ash), Sept. 25, GNA-Residents of the Amansie South District in the Ashanti Region have been urged to change their attitude towards their environment.
They should make environmental cleanliness part of their daily activities, while helping to protect the forest, water bodies and other natural resources in their communities.
Mr. Benjamin Marfo, the District Chief Executive (DCE), who made the call, said it was the responsibility of all community members to ensure that their immediate surroundings were clean to help prevent diseases.
He was speaking after joining the chiefs and people of Keniago to embark on a massive clean-up exercise in the community.
They cleared heaps of refuse, swept and desilted gutters along the principal streets of the town and the health centre, to promote environmental cleanliness and public health.
Mr. Marfo commended the people for the enthusiasm during the exercise and urged them to continue to ensure that their areas were always clean, adding that, keeping the environment clean should not be seen as an occasional exercise, but a daily collective responsibility of all.

“As a government, we are committed to providing the necessary logistics to ensure a clean and healthy environment. I urge all residents to put refuse in the bins provided and avoid indiscriminate dumping. Together, we can make our communities cleaner and safer,” he stated.
To reinforce this call, the DCE donated 10 dustbins to the Keniago community.
He explained that the gesture formed part of the government’s broader plan to provide communities with tools to properly manage waste, stressing that the bins must be used responsibly to reduce littering and promote good hygiene.
Nana Osei Yeboah, Abusuapanin of Keniago, who received the items from the district assembly for the support and pledged to ensure that the bins would be placed at vantage points in the community for the people to use.
