Accra, Aug. 11, GNA – MTN Ghana has hosted 100 participants of the Girls in ICT initiative from the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions for a mentorship and digital skills development programme.
The one-day engagement was aimed at inspiring young girls to explore careers in technology and providing them with first-hand exposure to the telecommunications industry.
Mr. Stephen Blewett, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, encouraged the girls to see technology as a pathway to leadership and innovation.
“As I always say, the next big thing should come from Africa, and any of you could become the CEO of MTN in the near future. Your creativity, curiosity, and boldness will help define Ghana’s digital future,” he said.
Female executives, including Mrs. Jemima Kotei-Walsh, Chief Customer Experience Officer, and Mrs. Angela Mensah-Poku, Chief Enterprise Officer, shared personal career experiences and urged the participants to persevere in pursuing their ambitions. Seven members of MTN’s Women in Technology (WIP) initiative also provided one-on-one mentorship.
Mrs. Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, Senior Manager for Corporate Communications, reaffirmed MTN’s commitment to bridging the digital gender gap, while Mrs. Gloria Agyei, Senior Manager for Learning and Development, outlined the objectives of the WIP programme.
The programme included sessions on Child Online Protection and Data Management, a tour of MTN’s Network Monitoring Center, and a visit to a cell site for practical insight into telecom operations.
