Accra, Aug. 23, GNA- The 12th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Industrial and Commercial Workers’ Union (ICU-Ghana) ended successfully in Accra, with the delegates renewing the mandate of the national leadership for a second term of four years.
They include Mr Morgan Ayawine as the General Secretary of the Union, Alhaji Nureeden Al-Hassan, National Chairman, Mr Paul Kofi Charway as National Vice Chairman, and Mr Emmanuel Baah Benimah as Deputy General Secretary (Operations).
The rest are Mr Samuel Ananga, Deputy General Secretary (Administration); Mr Charles Kojo Yeboah, as National First Trustee; and Madam Jemima Fafa Seneya-Bentu, as National Second Trustee.
Mr Ayawine, on behalf of the leadership, thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in them, saying the endorsement was an approval for continuity of the good job done.
“We cannot do it all alone, so we wish to solicit your unalloyed support and cooperation as you did before, in all aspects of our operations, and especially with the dedication and commitment of all,” he said.
He assured the delegates of the leadership’s commitment and re-dedication to the noble cause of the Union and the protection of the rights of workers at all times.
“The generality of workers of Ghana today look up to ICU-Ghana for the protection of their economic interest, and so, with all hands on deck, we shall certainly move this great Union of ours to the highest pedestal and make it the ‘people’s Union’.”
Mr Ayawine pledged the leadership efforts to continue to fight for the rights of workers and the right to form or join a trade union for the protection of their economic interest.
He called for unity among the management and the entire membership of the Union to ensure smooth and successful operations of the Union in the ensuing quadrennial.
He commended all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the conference.
