Ho, Aug 23, GNA – A delegation of Chiefs from the Akatsi North District, led by the Mr Bless Kojo Katamani, District Chief Executive (DCE), has officially announced the passing of Togbui Gbordzekpor Fianu III, Paramount Chief and President of the Ave-Afiadenyigba (Dzayime) Traditional Council to the Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu.
The announcement was made when the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Minister at the Residency in Ho to invite him to the planned royal funeral and burial rites of the late Paramount Chief.
The chiefs said the visit was both to fulfill custom and tradition, and to solicit the presence and support of the Regional Minister and the government as they prepare to bid farewell to their revered leader.
Speaking during the engagement, Mr Katamani, described Togbui Fianu III as a pillar of unity and development in the district, who left a lasting legacy of peace and wisdom.
“We have come with heavy hearts to officially communicate this great loss to you. Our Paramount Chief was a father figure, and his guidance will be sorely missed,” the DCE said.
He emphasized that the late Paramount Chief played a crucial role in maintaining harmony within the Ave-Afiadenyigba Traditional Area, while championing education, youth development, and cultural preservation.
In response, the Regional Minister assured them of his solidarity during the period of grief, while commending the traditional authorities for upholding custom.
“This is indeed a painful loss for the people of Akatsi North and the Volta region as a whole. Togbui Gbordzekpor Fianu III was not only a traditional leader, but a statesman whose contribution will remain in our memory,” the Minister stated.
He pledged his support towards ensuring that the funeral and burial rites reflected the dignity and stature of the late Paramount Chief.
The Minister further called on the people of Akatsi North to remain united during the period of the transition, emphasizing that the legacy of their leader should inspire collective commitment to peace and progress.
Members of the delegation expressed appreciation to the Minister for his comforting words and assured him that preparations for the funeral would be conducted in accordance with both tradition and respect for the late chief’s legacy.
The late Togbui Fianu III, is remembered as a cultural custodian and development advocate whose reign brought stability and recognition to his traditional area.
