All set for Sunday’s President’s Cup match between Hearts, Kotoko

Accra, July 3, GNA – Another edition of Ghana’s ‘Super Clash’ will take place on Sunday, July 6, 2025, when Hearts of Oak face Asante Kotoko in the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) President’s Cup.

The fixture, planned for the Accra Sports Stadium, would see the two heavyweights face off in this year’s match, which also marks the 10th anniversary of the fixture.

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to grace the match, which serves as a celebration of national unity, sporting excellence, and a shared passion for football in Ghana.

The Porcupine Warriors missed out on last year’s President’s Cup trophy after falling 2-1 to Ivorian giants Asec Mimosas at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

However, Kotoko, who recently won the MTN FA Cup, would enter into the contest with renewed vigour against a Hearts of Oak side which has seen some technical changes.

Kotoko would be using this match as a platform to prepare for this year’s CAF Confederations Cup prelims, which would start in September 2025.

Despite the recent player overhaul at Kotoko with seven players leaving the club, coach Karim Zito would be hoping to give some new players an opportunity to showcase their talent.

On the other hand, Coach Mas-ud Didi Dramani would be looking to lead Hearts to a spirited start, especially ahead of the upcoming Premier League season, which is expected to start in early September.

The Phobians have kept a core of the side from last season, where they placed fourth, and would be hoping to secure a major scalp over their arch-rivals, Kotoko.

The match would kick-start at 16:00 GMT.
