Accra, Sept. 22, GNA – The 12 finalists of the Africa Monologue Challenge have paid a courtesy call on Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, as part of activities leading up to the grand finale of the continental initiative.
The visit, held in Accra, was to provide an opportunity for the finalists to engage with the Minister and share their experiences during their stay in Ghana.
The initiative seeks to promote inter-African trade, tourism and cultural exchange by bringing together young talents from across the continent.
Nana Dwomoh-Doyen, the Chief Operating Officer of the Africa Monologue Challenge, who led the delegation, expressed appreciation to the Minister for her continued guidance, counsel and support since the inception of the initiative.
He noted that the 12 finalists, selected from over 2,000 entries across Africa, had spent the past two weeks at the Pan-African House, where each participant represented their respective countries, saying this was to allow them to experience cultural diversity, foster interaction and develop a deeper understanding of one another’s countries.
According to Nana Dwomoh-Doyen, the participants rotate leadership every two days, with each finalist taking responsibility for leading the Pan-African House, adding that the experience was intended to equip them with the knowledge and exposure needed to become cultural ambassadors of Ghana and their respective countries.
He said the overall winner would be announced at the grand finale here in Accra, and the winning country would have the opportunity to host the next edition of the challenge, with the possibility of Ghana retaining the hosting rights.
“Finalists will spend two weeks in Ghana post-finale to produce a short film based on a Ghanaian script, presented as a gift to the country. The finalists will also visit tourist attractions, aided by the Ghana Tourism Authority and the Ministry, to enhance their understanding of Ghana’s tourism potential and their role as ambassadors.”
Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie welcomed the finalists and commended the organisers for creating a platform that encourages African youth to learn from one another, celebrate their cultures and build meaningful connections across borders.
The Minister said the initiative offered an opportunity for young Africans to showcase their knowledge, creativity and understanding of their respective countries while promoting mutual respect and cultural appreciation.
She encouraged the participants to embrace healthy competition and use their experiences to promote tourism, cultural exchange and unity across the continent.
The Africa Monologue Challenge is a continental initiative that seeks to foster connections among African youth through storytelling, performance, cultural exchange and tourism promotion.
