Essikado (W/R), Sept. 22, GNA – The Essikado-Ketan Sub-Metro Office of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has sensitised pupils of the Ketan M/A Basic School on online safety and cybersecurity.
The sensitisation, which formed part of the Commission’s civic education outreach to schools, was led by Ms Mavis Amoakohene, an Assistant Director at the NCCE Sekondi-Takoradi Metro Office, and Mr Solomon Ofosu, a Civic Education Officer.
Addressing the pupils, Ms Amoakohene emphasised that activities undertaken online could have real consequences on their lives and urged them to be responsible on digital platforms.
She also cautioned them against sharing nude pictures, engaging in cyberbullying, and disclosing personal and sensitive information online, while urging them to critically assess the impact of any information before sharing it on the internet.
Ms Amoakohene further encouraged the pupils to prioritise their education, stressing that their books should remain their best companions as their performance at the basic level would determine their progression in life.
Mr Ofosu also told the pupils to report any form of online abuse or suspicious online behaviour to their parents, teachers, or trusted adults for action.
