Nyakrom Development Association adopts strategic plan to transform lives

Nyakrom (C/R), June 04, GNA- The Agona Nyakrom Development Association (NDA) has adopted a comprehensive strategic plan to enable members both at home and in the Diaspora to mobilise adequate funds to transform the town.

The Association which was formed during the COVID-19 period in 2020, had contributed significantly to the growth of the town in the areas of education, healthcare delivery, good roads and many others.

Nana John Boadu, the outgoing Chairman of the Association made this known at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association at Nyakrom in the Agona West Municipality.

He said during the Pandemic, it supports the people of the town, as members both home and abroad procured Personal Protective Equipment, Veronica buckets and many more and distributed them to the health center, police station, palaces and other public places to curb the spread of the disease.

He said since then members had been contributing to support sons and daughters of the town to offer them the opportunity to pursue higher education both at home and abroad to enhance human capital development.

Nana Boadu commended some members who had played vital roles in trcommending the lives of many youths in the areas of education, health and social development.

The Outgoing Chairman mentioned Nana Adu Peseko Vll, Gyantuahene of Nyakrom and Nana Osei Bonsu III, Tufuhene of Nyakrom for their innovative plans over the years, Mr Richard Andam, Chairman of the Diasporas and many key members of the Association for their extraordinary contributions.

Nana Boadu said the Association had initiated many developmental projects at Nyakrom health center including construction of a wall, male and female wards aimed at upgrading the facility for enhanced service delivery.

Omanhene of Nyakrom Traditional Area, Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku X, praised members for their high sense of dedication and services to champion socio-economic advancement of the town.

The Paramount Chief said the formation of the Association had compelled many inhabitants who had for many years not been able to visit the town, to come home to assist their family members and the general development of Nyakrom.

He said the Association had through some NGOs, awarded scholarships to some of the youth to further their education.

Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku said some Paramount Chiefs in the Central Region had contacted him to learn from the Association to replicate it in their respective areas.

The Omanhene called on the MCE of Agona West who is also a native of Nyakrom to use his good office to improve the living standards of the citizenry.

He assured the MCE that the Chiefs in the area, especially those at Nyakrom would continue to rally solidly behind him to bring more projects for a facelift of the town.

Mr Eric Gyamfi Odoom, MCE for Agona West said the Association stood for development and assured that every development project needed by Agona Nyakrom would be evenly distributed to all other towns in the Municipality.

He said the NDC government under President Mahama would ensure that the Nyakrom got it fair share of the national cake in the areas of roads which had deteriorated but would soon be awarded on contract to ensure free vehicular movement.

On the alarming rate of illicit drug use in the Municipality, the MCE said the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) was making strenuous efforts to curb the menace.

Mr Gyamfi Odoom therefore urged parents to also educate their children about the dangers of these illicit drugs in order not to ruin their future.

On education, the MCE said the Assembly had put in place adequate measures to help transform teaching and learning by providing 200 tables and chairs to schools and further assured that the government under President Mahama would give the Municipality, its fair share of development.

Mr George Nkrumah, the newly elected Chairman of the Association, on his part, pledged to continue the work of the outgoing executives to achieve their aims and objectives.

He said they would team up with the chiefs to construct new wards and provide other structures at the Nyakrom Health Center to meet the status of a Polyclinic.

Mr Nkrumah said they would embark on an aggressive membership drive both home and abroad to get all citizens on board to achieve the needed development for Agona Nyakrom.
