Tel Aviv, June 18, (dpa/GNA) – Iran has launched some 400 missiles and hundreds of drones at Israel since Friday, with dozens of strikes hitting Israeli territory, but the pace of attacks have declined in recent days, an Israeli military official said on Tuesday.
The Israeli military says it has destroyed dozens of Iranian missiles and more than a third of Iran’s surface-to-surface missile launchers. While the reduction in attacks may be linked to Israeli operations, Israeli military officials acknowledge that other unspecified factors could also be at play.
Despite the recent lull, further heavy missile attacks from Iran are anticipated. Military officials say Israel is continuing strikes on targets in Iran.
Israel’s attacks have focussed on nuclear facilities, and military installations including Iran’s air defences. The initial airstrikes specifically targeted leading nuclear scientists and high-ranking commanders.
In response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has launched missile and drone attacks on Israel.
