Sunyani, (Bono), May 28, GNA – Mr Vincent Antwi Agyei, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive says the Assembly will soon undertake a decongestion exercise to ease traffic flow in the Sunyani Central Business District (CBD) enclave.
Interacting with the media in Sunyani, he advised the traders and hawkers occupying and selling on the streets to vacate in order not to be forcefully ejected, asking all of them to move into the Sunyani main market.
He said it was hazardous to expose food items and other stuff directly to the sunlight and urged the market women and traders to refrain from the practice.
Mr Agyei said the rapid population and business growth was not justification for petty businesses and traders to occupy walkways and sell directly on the street, saying that even exposed them to dangers.
He said the situation at the CBD now obstructed vehicular traffic flow, hence the need to decongest and bring sanity to the CBD and also promote the safety of the traders.
Mr Agyei said the Assembly had engaged with the relevant stakeholders including the market women, shop owners and traders, asking everybody to cooperate for a successful exercise and called on the public to also support the Assembly in keeping the city clean.
