Ohawu (V/R), May 14, GNA – Mr Eric Edem Agbana, Member of Parliament for Ketu North, has expressed optimism that President John Dramani Mahama led government will honor its pledge to upgrade the Ohawu Agricultural College into a fully-fledged Agricultural University.
Speaking during an engagement with management, staff, and students at the college, Mr. Agbana emphasised the importance of transforming the institution, which remains the only post-secondary educational facility in the Ketu North constituency.
He lamented the lack of attention the college had received from successive governments over the years and described its current state as unacceptable.
“As the MP for this constituency, I am committed to changing this narrative,” he said.

In response to some of the immediate challenges facing the college, Mr. Agbana pledged to provide two boreholes to ease the acute water shortage affecting the school.
He also promised to construct a toilet facility to address open defecation, which he attributed to the absence of proper sanitation infrastructure.
As part of his visit, the MP donated two Apple iMac computers to the college administration to enhance their operations.
“The challenges are dire, but our resolve is stronger,” Mr. Agbana stated, assuring the school of his continued advocacy and support.
The Principal of the College, Mr. Ernest Abiew, expressed gratitude to the MP for his intervention and support.
He echoed the hope that the college would soon receive the necessary elevation and resources to function at a higher academic level and provide quality training in agriculture.
The visit highlighted growing calls for the government to invest more in agricultural education and prioritize institutions like Ohawu Agricultural College that play a pivotal role in rural development and food security.
