US military hits sites in Iran as Kuwait reports more attacks

Washington, July 14 (dpa/GNA) – The US military on Tuesday, launched additional strikes against Iran, one hour before the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz at 2000 GMT was set to start.

The US regional military authority, the US Central Command (CENTCOM), said on X that the attacks were designed “to continue degrading Iranian capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz”, and are timed as US forces prepare to resume their naval blockade of Iranian ports.

Iranian media earlier reported fresh explosions along the country’s southern coast. The attacks extended across several cities in daylight hours, in what appeared to mark a further escalation of the conflict.

Renewed hostilities have broken out in recent days between Tehran and Washington, with the United States conducting a third consecutive night of strikes on Iran as the ceasefire between the two sides crumbles.

Kuwait also reported further attacks from Iran. The Gulf state’s armed forces said, its air defences were intercepting missiles and drones.

Explosions heard across the country were caused by the defence operations. As before, residents were urged not to approach any debris, nor to touch or photograph it.

Warning sirens sounded again in Bahrain. Citizens were urged to follow instructions from the authorities and seek safety, the Interior Ministry said.
