Tema, May 26, GNA – The AfriKan Continental Union Consult (ACUC) has lauded President John Dramani Mahama’s Africa Union (AU) Day message calling on Africans at home and in the Afro-descendant territories to rally together to change the continent.
President Mahama, in his message, called on African leaders, civil society organisations, and youth groups to come together to build a system where the dream of every African and African descent is fully realised, adding that AU Day 2025 should be a turning point in Africa’s pursuit of reparations.
He also called for investment in educational initiatives to promote a deeper understanding of African history, culture and contributions to the world, indicating that even though it was not a simple task, it requires courage, determination and a unified front to achieve.
Dr Benjamin Anyagre Aziginaateeg, the Chief Executive Officer of ACUC, speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in commemoration of the 65th AU Day, said his outfit, together with other sincere Pan-Africanists across the globe, appreciates the president’s call for action.
This year’s AU Day celebration is on the theme “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations”.
Dr Aziginaateeg noted that President Mahama was committed to a purposeful continental union government with aspirations to achieve the Africa that Africans want, to save the future of the youth and generations.

He stated that following in the footsteps of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah would make him an heir of the president of the first constitutional administration of Ghana.
“Recently in Ouagadougou, during the inauguration of the first phase of the mausoleum of the “Afrikan Che” and martyr Thomas Sankara, Pan-Africanists gathered and identified President John Dramani Mahama as a potential and courageous Pan-African leader, exemplified by the invitation extended to Commandante Ibrahim Traoré to attend his investiture, and the Ghanaians and Africans were very proud,” he indicated.
According to him, the Pan-Africanists saw that as a huge symbolic Pan-African gesture and were enthused, praying that President Mahama likes to help make Africa great with zeal.
He reiterated the need for Africa to unite, as, according to him, the independence of any African sovereign state or institutions such as the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) are meaningless until they are channelled towards the satisfaction of the African youth and people.
“Africa must unite now and quickly to rip the fruits of her rich natural resources, which have been denied Africans for centuries throughout colonialism and neocolonialism rules and look at the youthful energy of the continent as wealth to make Africa strong and great.”
