Accra, April 25, GNA – The Tema Presbytery of the Global Evangelical Church (GEC) has called on the Government to prioritise the road networks to improve productivity and create a positive impact on the economy.

The Church made this known at the 2025 Tema Presbytery Representative Conference (PRC) at Sakumono in Accra.

On the theme: “Preach the Word,” the conference, which brought together delegates from congregations within the Presbytery, aimed at enhancing spiritual growth, unity, and development within the church.

It also serves as a platform to highlight achievements, challenges, financial issues, human resource development, and strategic planning of the Presbytery.

Speaking at the PRC, the Rev. Jedidiah Azumah, Chairman of the Tema Presbytery of the GEC, congratulated the new government on the electoral victory and urged it to focus on improving the nation’s roads.

He said the poor conditions of the country’s roads had impacted the economy negatively and affecting productivity across all sectors, adding that the number of man-hours spent on the road was a waste of productive hours, culminating in losses and cost to the nation.

In addition to fixing the roads, Rev. Azumah also appealed to the Government to educate road users on the proper use of motorways, speed limits, and lane usage, while applying the necessary sanctions for traffic offenders.

That, he said, would not only serve as a deterrent but also generate revenue for the government.

He said the Church’s call for improved road infrastructure and education on road usage was to promote economic development and reduce the risks associated with the poor road conditions.

“Beyond education, apply the necessary sanctions to generate revenue,” Rev Azumah said.

Touching on the theme, Rev. Azumah urged participants to proclaim the word with urgency, in season and out of season, stressing that it was the divine truth by which men could be saved.

He said the Church must use the word of God to reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

“I, therefore, call on all followers of Christ to preach the word to all creatures in order to snatch them from destruction,” he said.

He called for a renewed commitment to the Church’s mission and vision.
