HRRG congratulates Agnes Naa Momo Lartey on her appointment as Gender Minister

Accra, Feb 3, GNA – Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG) has congratulated Agnes Naa Momo Lartey on her appointment as the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection.

“This milestone appointment is an important step forward in promoting gender equality and protecting the rights of vulnerable populations in Ghana”.

This was in a statement signed by its CEO,Dr Joseph Kobla Wemakor and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Monday.

According to the statement, since 2019 that it was founded, HRRG had been at the forefront of human rights advocacy, comprising a committed group of young journalists, editors, lawyers, and activists focused on promoting and defending human rights throughout the nation and beyond.

“The organization’s work centres on supporting marginalized communities and addressing critical issues such as gender-based violence, child abuse, human trafficking, and discrimination.

“HRRG has launched numerous impactful initiatives, including nationwide awareness campaigns, legal support for victims, policy advocacy, and grassroots mobilization efforts”.

The statement said the initiatives aim to ensure that every Ghanaian had access to their fundamental human rights and freedoms.

The organization’s dedication to social justice had garnered national and international recognition, culminating in the receipt of the esteemed 5th UN Global Entreps Award.

“HRRG considers the appointment of Agnes Naa Momo Lartey a strategic advancement in Ghana’s commitment to bolstering social welfare and enhancing the rights of women and children”.

The organization expressed confidence in her capability to lead the ministry with integrity and creativity, particularly in her dedication to promoting the well-being of all citizens, including women, children, and persons living with disabilities.

HRRG also called on her to recognize the organization as a crucial partner in addressing human rights challenges across the country.

“This organization looks forward to collaborating with the Ministry on policy development, awareness initiatives, capacity-building projects, and grassroots advocacy designed to empower vulnerable groups.

“We anticipate the opportunity to collaborate with the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection in driving meaningful change and upholding the principles of justice, equality, and human dignity for all Ghanaians,” the statement concluded.
