Takoradi, Feb. 21, GNA- Some members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), in Takoradi in the Western Region have joined the ongoing nationwide strike which commenced on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

The strike by CLOGSAG, was in against the appointment of Mr Samuel Adom Botchway, as the Birth and Death Registrar, which they claimed was politically influenced.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA), to some institutions under CLOGSAG revealed no sign of staff at post.

It was observed that institutions like the Birth and Death Registry, Rent Control Department, Social Welfare and Community Development were closed in compliance with the strike.

Mr Kwame Tawiah, CLOGSAG Western Regional Secretary, in an interview said the strike was a step in the right direction, adding that until government revoked the appointment of the Birth and Death Registrar, the Association would continue in its strike.

He also prayed that other CLOGSAG members who had not yet joined the strike would comply till their concerns were addressed by the government.
