Birifor, (UW/R), June 3, GNA – Mr Bede A. Ziedeng, Member of Parliament for the Lawra Constituency, has commended Solodom Construction Limited for the progress of work on the construction of a multipurpose dining hall complex and headmaster’s bungalow at Birifor Senior High School (SHS).

The MP, who gave the commendations in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), observed that the contractor had demonstrated commitment and preparedness to complete the project within the stipulated period.

The project, valued at GH₵11 million, started a month ago and is expected to be completed within twelve (12) months.

The 2,500-seat capacity dining hall with a kitchen, when completed, would provide a befitting structure for the students to have their meals.

During a visit to the project site at Birifor, the Ghana News Agency (GNA), observed that excavation works for the foundation and columns had been completed, starter columns erected, and concrete works for the foundation and columns were ongoing.

Mr Ziedeng indicated that the intervention formed part of his efforts to enhance the educational sector of the constituency to help develop a highly skilled workforce for the constituency and Ghana as a whole.

Mr Solomon Adumbiiri Ameabuno, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Solodom Construction Limited, said the project had attained about 20 per cent completion within the first month of commencement.

He said block work for the foundation would commence in the coming days as construction progressed steadily and expressed confidence that it would be completed ahead of schedule.

“As you can see, the materials on the ground and the materials in the store, I have got the materials up to lintel level, so within some months, I will be roofing, but I haven’t taken a pesewa from GETFund yet.

GETFund does not give you money to start work. It is when you work to some level that you prepare your certificate and send it to them, then they can consider the payment,” Mr Ameabuno Explained.

He cited several projects his company had undertaken and others still in progress, as administration blocks for the Bolgatanga Technical University and Presbyterian College of Education.

Others were dormitory facilities for Bongo Senior High School (SHS), and assembly halls for Sandema Senior SHS and St. Charles Minor Seminary in the Northern Region, among others.

Mr Ameabuno acknowledged the support of the Birifor community, especially the Chief in the construction process, including the provision of labour.

The dining hall project formed part of the efforts of the MP and the government to improve educational infrastructure and enhance learning conditions for students at the Birifor SHS.
