Fiapre, (Bono), June 3, GNA – Obrempong Professor Kyem Amponsah II, the Chief of Fiapre in the Sunyani West Municipality has inaugurated a six-unit classroom block for the Kyem Amponsah Senior High School (KASHS) in the town.
The chief funded the construction of the facility for the community-based SHS at the cost of GH¢600,000.
Speaking at a ceremony at Fiapre, near Sunyani, Obrempong Prof Amponsah II said that the gesture was to support the government’s dedication to improve educational facilities in SHSs.
He noted that the school was fast growing, saying that the facility was required to enable the authorities to admit more students and to create a conducive atmosphere to enhance teaching and learning.
Obrempong Prof Amponsah II also donated 700 tables and chairs to the school, explaining that established in 2023 with only 223 students, the school now had almost 1,000 total students with a boarding facility.
He appealed to the government, philanthropist and benevolent individuals and organisations as well as wealthy Fiapre natives, both home and abroad, to the school to address its physical infrastructure shortfall.
Obrempong Prof Amponsah II said the school also required a bus and pickup vehicle and urged the students to remain studious and disciplined.
Mr Issah Baffoe, the Sunyani West Municipal Director of Education, thanked the chief for the gesture and acknowledged his priceless contributions towards the progressive growth and development of the school.
