“I have not been interdicted” – Tsito SHTS Headmaster clarifies

By Samuel Akumatey

Ho, Jan. 21, GNA – Reverend Dr Joy Kafui Akpebu, the Headmaster of the Tsito Senior High Technical School has debunked media reports stating that he had been interdicted in relation to the ongoing case of diverted school feeding supplies.

On January 17, 2024, a citizen vigilante caused the arrest of the driver of the school bus who was allegedly diverting school supplies.

A video of the act went viral, and the Ghana Education Service (GES), in a swift response placed a restraining order on the driver and other individuals involved in the matter.

Meanwhile, media reports had indicated that the Headmaster was also interdicted.

Rev. Akpebu, in a rebuttal, clarified that he had been asked to “step aside” for investigations but had not been interdicted.

He categorically denied being part of the school feeding supply deal and appealed to media houses to be factual in reporting the matter.

He shared copies of letters to the affected persons with the Ghana News Agency, which validated his claim.

Rev. Akpebu’s letter, titled “Notice to Step Aside” and signed by Mr Francis Yaw Agbemadi, the Volta Regional Director of Education, read: “By a directive of the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, you are hereby instructed to step aside from your duties, effective 17th January 2025.

“This decision follows the alleged involvement of your school storekeeper, driver, and the School Bus, which is under your supervision in the diversion of 100 cartons of tin tomatoes intended for the feeding of students in the Volta Region,” the letter read.

The Headmaster has been asked to hand over his duties to the Regional Education Director and avail himself for the necessary investigations on the matter.

However, Sylvanus Awunyo-Dogbey, the storekeeper, and Samuel Kwame Ampeh, the bus driver, each received a full interdiction.

They are facing the law, with the Police opening investigations into the matter.
