Police commend NDC, NPP supporters for peaceful rallies

Accra, Dec.6, GNA – The Ghana Police Service has commended Ghanaians, particularly supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for holding peaceful, incident-free rallies on the same day. 

In a press release issued by the Police Affairs Directorate and shared with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Police acknowledged the cooperation of the NPP, NDC, and their supporters before and during the rallies, which ensured their peaceful and successful conclusion in Accra on December 5, 2024. 

The Police also expressed gratitude to the public, especially motorists, for their patience and understanding during the traffic diversions and road blockages implemented to manage the movement for these major events. 

“Furthermore, the leadership of the Police Administration acknowledges and appreciates the dedication and professionalism of all officers deployed to maintain law, order, peace and security during these special events,”the statement added. 

As the country approaches the elections on December 7, 2024, the Police urged political parties, their supporters, and all stakeholders to maintain the same level of discipline, unity, and patriotism for a peaceful election. 

“The Ghana Police Service reaffirms its commitment to ensuring a peaceful, safe, and orderly election on December 7, 2024,” the statement concluded.
