Sekondi (W/R), July 29, GNA – The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has generated GH¢9,799,294.41 in Internally Generated Funds (IGF) against an annual target of GH¢20,746,251.85, representing 47.2 per cent of its 2026 target at the end of the first half of the year.
Mr Frederick F. Faidoo, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), said the revenue was generated from rates, lands and concessions, fees and fines, licences, and rents.
He disclosed this at the Second Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Ninth Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly held in Sekondi.
The meeting brought together Assembly Members, management of the STMA, heads of departments and agencies, and other stakeholders to assess the Assembly’s performance during the period under review and devise strategies to advance the development agenda of the metropolis.
Mr Faidoo said as of the end of June 2026, the Assembly’s total expenditure stood at GH¢9,375,325.90 out of a budget of GH¢20,746,251.18, representing an execution rate of 45.2 per cent.
He said 56 per cent of IGF expenditure, amounting to GH¢8,499,848.77, was spent on goods and services, while capital expenditure received GH¢66,973.00 out of an expected GH¢2,461,602.28, representing three per cent.

Touching on security, Mr Faidoo said the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis remained generally peaceful and stable, with only isolated incidents involving theft, illegal dumping, traffic and noise violations, minor disturbances and chieftaincy-related issues.
He said the Metropolitan Security Council (MESEC), in collaboration with the security agencies, had continued to respond promptly to emerging security concerns to safeguard lives and property.
On social welfare, the MCE said the Assembly, through the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, had continued to implement programmes aimed at improving the welfare and livelihoods of vulnerable groups.
He said the Assembly strengthened its social protection interventions through the enrolment of 127 households onto the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme.
Mr Faidoo added that in collaboration with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), the Assembly enrolled or renewed the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) membership of 19,966 vulnerable persons to improve their access to healthcare.
On agriculture, he said the Assembly continued to support the Government’s agricultural transformation agenda through strategic interventions to improve food security and enhance livestock production.
He said the Assembly had received 300,000 day-old chicks under the Government’s Nkokonkitinkiti programme for distribution to registered poultry farmers across the three constituencies in the metropolis.
On waste management, Mr Faidoo said the Assembly had intensified efforts to improve environmental sanitation and promote cleaner communities.
He said the Assembly, in collaboration with the Metropolitan Education Directorate, also continued to prioritise quality education and the holistic development of learners across the metropolis.
The MCE also highlighted developments in the roads, transport and tourism sectors, among others, and urged Assembly Members to support the implementation of programmes and interventions aimed at transforming the metropolis.
