Takoradi, Dec. 26, GNA – The Essikado hospital and Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital recorded 23 baby deliveries during the yuletide.
Essikado had seven of the babies out of which three were delivered through caesarian section while, 16 babies were recorded at Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.
Madam Hagar Mensah, the Staff Midwife at Essikado Hospital said the hospital needed monitors for mothers after delivery, screens to enhance privacy and intercommunication facilities to the theatre to ensure efficient communication for prompt action when it came to emergency deliveries.
Madam Mensah said this when the MTN presented Baby Hampers to the new borns.
The hamper distribution project, a flagship initiative that embodied the spirit of giving and caring that defined MTN, Prince Owusu Nyarko, Senior Manager South-West Business District said.
In the Sekondi-Takoradi, some 40 babies born on Christmas would receive newborn clothing, detergents, toys, blankets, and other personal care items.
Mr Nyarko said since 2011, some 3,500 hampers had been distributed adding that, “This year, 30 health facilities will benefit from this initiative in all 16 regions”.
He added that the project showcased the human face of the MTN brand, demonstrating commitment to caring for the well-being of Ghanaians by providing essential items to families with newborns, to alleviate some of the pressures associated with caring for a new life.
The Baby Hamper Distribution project was a shining example of MTN’s dedication to giving back to the community.
