Kasseh, Nov. 08, GNA – Gospel musician and founder of Lady Chris Gospel Music Ministries, Mrs Christiana Akwesi (Lady Chris), is schedule to celebrate 10 years in gospel ministry with an anniversary praise and worship programme.
The celebration would feature renowned gospel musician Selina Boateng and other ministers.
The celebration, which is slated for Sunday, November 29, at the Kasseh Main Lorry Station in the Ada East District, is expected to bring together gospel music enthusiasts, church leaders and worshippers for an evening of praise, worship and thanksgiving.
Lady Chris, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the anniversary, on the theme; “God’s Faithfulness,” would provide an opportunity to reflect on God’s goodness throughout her decade-long journey in gospel music.
She described Selina Boateng, one of the headline performers, as a major inspiration in her musical journey, saying she had admired her music and ministry over the years.
“Selina Boateng is one of my role models. I love her music and admire her from afar,” she said.
Other gospel ministers expected to perform include Reverend Jonathan Nyabu, S.K. Revivalist, J.T. Nartey, Nana Saysiba, Kweku Shai and Ophelia Diamond.
Explaining the choice of Kasseh as the venue, Lady Chris said its strategic location within the Ada Traditional Area and growing commercial activities, made it suitable for the celebration.
She said the community served as a central point for several towns in Ada, making it accessible to people from different parts of the traditional area and beyond.
Reflecting on her 10-year journey, Lady Chris said one of the most fulfilling aspects of her ministry had been receiving testimonies from people who found comfort and encouragement through her songs during difficult moments.
She said several listeners had contacted her to recount how particular songs had brought them relief when they were facing personal challenges.
“Most times, people call me and say, ‘Lady Chris, I am in difficulties, and I sang one of your songs and got relief.’ Others also call on the phone and ask me to sing a song for them because they are going through a lot,” she said.
She said such testimonies continued to inspire her to remain committed to using music as a tool for spreading the gospel and encouraging people in difficult circumstances.
Despite the impact of her music, Lady Chris said financial constraints remained a major obstacle to the growth of her ministry, particularly the high cost of recording and producing songs.
She also identified transportation as another significant challenge, explaining that the lack of a vehicle sometimes affected her ability to honour invitations to gospel programmes on time.
She said the situation could become particularly difficult when programmes ended late in the evening, making it challenging to secure transportation back home.
“Because of the lack of a car, you sometimes get to the programme late, and the organisers will be calling to ask where you are and whether you are coming. The most challenging part is when the programme closes late in the evening and it becomes difficult to get home,” she said.
She appealed to benevolent individuals, organisations and other stakeholders to support her ministry with a vehicle to facilitate her movement and enable her to respond to invitations to minister at programmes.
Lady Chris also called on gospel music lovers and the public to support the anniversary celebration and help make the 10-year milestone a memorable one.
The programme is expected to begin at 1600 hours.
