Kumasi, Oct. 01, GNA – Kumasi, the Garden City, has splashed with the red, white and blue colours of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and it is hard to look anywhere without seeing it.

With barely two days to the party’s National Delegates Conference and Election at the Baba Yara Stadium on Saturday, October 03, 2026, aspirants’ posters, billboards and party paraphernalia, have taken over the streets of Kumasi.

They fill every available space, from walls and poles to the roadsides.

Huge billboards carrying the faces of the various candidates have been mounted across the city, so that a drive through the metropolis feels like a walk through a gallery of campaign portraits.

At the intersections of major highways, party flags are tied to street-light poles and flutter over passing traffic.

The display has lifted the mood among party faithful, who said the city, widely regarded as the stronghold and pillar of the party, was ready to host the contest.

The Baba Yara Stadium, the venue for the election, has been dressed up for the occasion.

Its precincts are awash with party colours and posters of the aspirants, while large portraits of candidates stand ready to welcome delegates when they arrive on Saturday.

The excitement is also reaching the pockets of traders, who are getting ready to cash in on the election day.

Party souvenirs have over the streets, and sellers are expecting brisk business as delegates, aspirants and supporters poured into the city.

A total of 7,163 delegates from all 16 regions are expected to vote to elect new national officers.

Forty-five aspirants are contesting nine positions being: the National Chairman, Vice Chairman, General Secretary, National Organiser, National Women’s Organiser, National Youth Organiser, National Nasara Organiser, National Treasurer and National Communications Director.

The election will be supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC), with voting spreading across 31 polling stations.

A release issued by the National Officers’ Elections Committee (NOEC); constitutional amendments would begin at exactly 0900 hours, with the election of national officers expected to start at 1200 hours.

The release said each delegate seeking to vote must have their name on the delegates’ register and present one valid identification document: a Voter ID card, Ghana Card or NPP party card.

Delegates are advised to bring one of these documents and allow enough time for verification before voting begins.

The release, signed by the NOEC Chairman, Mr Frederick Opare-Ansah, called on all constituency, regional and national officers to bring the notice to the attention of delegates in their jurisdictions.

It added that punctuality and cooperation would help ensure the orderly consideration of the constitutional amendments and the smooth conduct of the elections.

As the posters multiply and the flags keep flying, Kumasi is waiting for Saturday, when the faces on the billboards will give way to the choice of the delegates.
