Agona Swedru (C/R), Oct. 01, GNA – The Election Committee at the Agona West branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Party, has successfully vetted and cleared 41 aspirants to contest various positions in the upcoming Constituency elections.
Ms Hamid Selma, the Agona West Election Committee Chairperson of the party, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Agona Swedru, that all the aspirants were cleared because they all qualified to compete for the positions in the elections slated for Saturday, October 24, 2026.
She said the upcoming elections would strengthen the party structures and further deepen internal democracy, to prepare solid grounds for the 2028 general elections.
The Chairperson said it was incumbent on all aspirants and delegates to conduct themselves with discipline, respect, tolerance and commitment to the rules and guidelines governing the elections.
She urged the aspirants to campaign with dignity and respect and called on the delegates to vote wisely to assist the party emerge with landslide victory in 2028.
âLet us work together to ensure that the elections are peaceful, transparent, credible and successful, and bury our differences during the contest to avoid undermining unity and peace in the party,â Ms Selma advised.
The Election Committee Chairperson admonished the aspirants to conduct decent campaign devoid of antagonism, character assassination and others to reduce division before and after the elections.
She said the NDC needed a united front and not a divided one, adding that the outcome of the elections should facilitate the party’s vision of achieving its aims and objectives.
