Earth Energy investment to boost economic activity in Akatsi South – MCE

Akatsi (VR), Oct. 2, GNA – The establishment of a new fuel station by Earth Energy Limited at Tatorme in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region is expected to boost economic activity and create opportunities for businesses and residents in the area.

Mr Daniel Dagba, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akatsi South, said the investment demonstrated confidence in the economic potential of the Municipality and would contribute to the growing commercial activities along the important transport corridor.

He said this during a short opening ceremony held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, to officially open the facility.

Mr Dagba said the Akatsi-Accra Road served as a major route for the movement of people, goods and services between communities and other parts of the country.

He said beyond the provision of fuel, the investment was expected to contribute to employment creation, local economic activity and revenue generation.

Mr Dagba, therefore, encouraged the management to, as much as practicable, provide employment opportunities to qualified persons within the Municipality, particularly the youth.

He also encouraged local businesses and service providers to take advantage of opportunities that might arise from the presence of the facility.

Mr Dagba, however, stressed the importance of safety, environmental protection and regulatory compliance in the handling of petroleum products.

He urged the management of the company to maintain strict adherence to the requirements of the National Petroleum Authority, Ghana National Fire Service, Environmental Protection Agency, the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly and other relevant regulatory institutions.

He said the facility must be properly maintained, fire safety measures kept functional and staff given appropriate training in emergency response and the safe handling of petroleum products.

Mr Dagba also encouraged the management to maintain good relations with surrounding communities and see itself as a partner in local development.

He said the Assembly looked forward to meaningful corporate social responsibility initiatives from the company to contribute to the welfare and development of communities within which it operated.

Mr Dagba also said the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly remained committed to creating an enabling environment for responsible private-sector investment, noting that government alone could not provide all the jobs and services required by the growing population.

He assured the people of Tatorme and surrounding communities that the Assembly would continue to work with relevant agencies to ensure that commercial activities within the Municipality were conducted in a manner that protected public safety, the environment and the general interest of communities.

Some management representatives of Earth Energy Limited, traditional authorities, business partners, security agencies and other stakeholders attended the ceremony.

Some drivers who have since patronised the facility expressed the hope that its establishment would contribute to economic growth and increased commercial activity in the area.

Mr Dagba congratulated Earth Energy Limited on the investment and officially welcomed the company and its management to Tatorme and the Akatsi South Municipality.
