Ve Golokuati (V/R), Oct. 17, GNA – The BrightSeed: Nova Care GH Foundation, in partnership with the Afadzato South District Assembly, has organized a free community medical outreach for residents of Logba Alakpeti and its surrounding communities on Thursday October 16,2026 and Friday.

The Two-day exercise was held on Friday, October 15, 2026, at the E.P. Church auditorium at Ve Golokuati in the Volta Region, and attracted a large number of residents, including women, children and the elderly.

The outreach was held under the leadership of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afadzato South, Mr Manfred Tawiah, who facilitated the partnership between the Assembly and the Foundation.

It was on the theme: “Care Today, Brighter Tomorrows,” with a focus on promoting healthy people and stronger communities in the Afadzato South District.

The exercise provided a range of free health services, including general health screenings, eye screenings and consultations, blood pressure and blood glucose checks, pediatric care and consultations, kidney health education and screening, and referrals for specialized care.

The programme forms part of a two-day medical outreach by the Foundation in the district, which would continue at Ve-Golokwati Gomashie and its environs.

Scores of residents who benefited from the exercise had the opportunity to check their blood pressure, blood sugar levels and eye health, while others received free medications and counselling.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Tawiah said the Assembly was committed to improving access to quality healthcare for all residents, especially those in hard-to-reach communities.

He said the Assembly would continue to collaborate with health-focused non-governmental organisations to bring regular medical outreaches to the district to ascertain the health status of the people.

Mr Tawiah urged residents to take their health seriously by attending regular check-ups and adhering to medical advice given by health professionals.

A representative of the BrightSeed: Nova Care GH Foundation, Dr Christiana Atta, said the initiative was aimed at bridging the healthcare gap in rural communities and promoting preventive healthcare.

Some beneficiaries who spoke to the GNA expressed gratitude to the Foundation and the District Assembly for the intervention, describing it as timely.

Madam Esi Aforla, a trader at Logba Alakpeti, said she had been experiencing blurred vision for months but had no money to visit the hospital, and was happy to receive free eye screening and drugs.

Mr Kwame Gbadago, 67, said the outreach had helped him to know his blood pressure status and appealed for such programmes to be organized regularly.

The Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, who paid a visit to the outreach centre, urged residents to take healthcare services seriously and make use of health facilities in the district.

The Foundation assured residents of its commitment to continue supporting the district with more health interventions and a special donation exercise in selected schools.
