Tamale, Sept 30, GNA – Vanguard Multimedia Ltd, a Tamale-based integrated multimedia company, has formally commenced operations with three broadcast platforms and a digital news and publishing platform to serve audiences in the northern part of the country and beyond.
The company operates NorthCiti Radio 90.1 FM, Zosimli Radio 102.9 FM and NorthCiti TV, supported by its digital platform, NorthCiti Online, as part of an integrated media operation combining radio, television and digital content.
This was contained in a statement issued by the company and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Tamale on Wednesday.
The statement said the company’s operations were anchored on quality journalism, compelling content and commercially sustainable media developed from the northern part of the country for audiences nationally and internationally.
It said the platforms would provide credible journalism and relevant programming while creating opportunities for businesses, institutions, development organisations and communities to communicate and engage effectively with their respective audiences.
It said NorthCiti Radio was positioned as an urban, English-language station providing news, analysis, entertainment, music, sports, lifestyle and discussions on national and public-interest issues.
It said Zosimli Radio, on the other hand, adopted a community-oriented approach with emphasis on northern Ghana, local issues, culture, music and the everyday experiences of communities.
The statement said the two radio stations had been structured to serve different audience needs in the Tamale Metropolis and northern Ghana while operating under the broader Vanguard Multimedia platform.
It said NorthCiti TV, which broadcasts from its main studio in Tamale through the MultiTV platform, provided news, current affairs, entertainment, lifestyle and sports content with regular news updates and original video productions also available digitally.
It said NorthCiti Online complemented the broadcast operations by publishing news and other content on politics, business, health, community affairs, sports, entertainment, culture and other areas of public interest.
It said the integration of the platforms would help develop and distribute content across radio, television and digital media allowing stories, campaigns and public-interest issues to be tailored to different audiences and disseminated through multiple channels.
The statement quoted Mr Samuel Ato Afful, Chief Executive Officer of Vanguard Multimedia Ltd, as saying the company was established to demonstrate that a modern and commercially sustainable media organisation could be built from northern Ghana while maintaining professional standards capable of serving audiences beyond the region.
Mr Afful said “Our ambition is not simply to add another media organisation to the Northern Ghana landscape. We want to build a platform that creates value for audiences, businesses, institutions and communities while demonstrating what professional media can achieve from Tamale and Ghana.”
He said the company viewed the media not only as a platform for news and entertainment but also as an important component of the economic and social development of northern Ghana.
He said Vanguard Multimedia would continue to invest in quality content, professional journalism, technology, people and partnerships to strengthen the media ecosystem in the region.
He said the company received positive feedback from listeners and viewers during its test transmission, especially regarding the sound and picture quality of its radio and television services.
The statement also quoted Mr Isaac Twumasi-Quantus, the Commercial Director, Vanguard Multimedia Ltd, as saying the company’s integrated approach would enable clients to combine radio, television, digital advertising, branded content, sponsorships, events and activations to meet their communication objectives.
Mr Twumasi-Quantus said the company would provide businesses and institutions with opportunities to reach audiences through multiple platforms rather than treating radio, television and digital media as separate channels.
He said northern Ghana had a growing population of consumers, young people, professionals, businesses and institutions requiring media platforms that understood their environment and could connect them to opportunities.
The statement said the company had also established the NorthCiti Media Training Centre and the NorthCiti Music Recording Studio with the training centre contributing to the professional development of current and aspiring media practitioners while the recording studio supporting audio production and other creative works.
