Techiman (Bono East) Oct 26, GNA – Dr Mohammed Awal, the Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) in-charge of Operations, has called on the youth to remain law abiding and eschew acts of violence.

He emphasised that the youth remained the driving force for progressive national development, saying that the development of the nation largely depended on them and until they peaceful co-exit, it could be difficult for the country to develop and prosper.

Dr Awal made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Techiman in the Bono East Region when he spoke on the just ended constituency elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He lauded the NDC for peaceful and successful elections nationwide; but however, urged the newly elected constituency executives to strengthen the grassroots structures ahead of the Election 2028.

Dr Awal noted that the various constituencies remained the pillars and strength of the NDC, urging the executives to be strategic and market the achievements and the laudable intervention of the government to the masses.

He said the execution of the government’s interventions like the ‘Big Push’ Road Infrastructure, 24-hour markets, Free Primary Healthcare, and the Feed Ghana were all geared towards alleviating the plight of the masses.

Looking ahead to the 2028 General Election, he said the NDC ought to be more formidable in its political campaign activities, drew closer to the electorate, and propagate the achievements of the government.

Describing the elections as an in-house activity, Dr Awal urged the candidates who lost the elections to support the executives in their political campaign activities for the party to retain political power in 2028.

Dr Awal urged the executives to operate an open-door administration by allowing NDC supporters and members at the grassroots to participate effectively in the decision-making process of the party.

That would promote good governance at the constituency levels, and thereby make the supporters and members own the NDC.
