Ho, Oct 26, GNA – The National Executive Committee of the United Cadres Front (UCF) has inaugurated a 10-member Regional Interim Management Committee to steer the affairs of the organisation in the Volta Region.

The committee, which will hold office until a regional conference is held to elect substantive executives, was inaugurated at the Volta Regional office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ho.

The UCF in a press release from its Communications Department explained that the inauguration followed the dissolution of the previous Volta Regional Executive Committee in July 2026 at a meeting in Ho involving some regional executives, aggrieved cadres and the National Executive Committee.

The dissolution was occasioned by allegations of non-performance, internal wrangling, disrespect towards members, and failure to comply with directives from higher authority.

The release said Mr Shine Gaveh, the National Chairman, UCF charged members of the new committee to be proactive, dedicated and hardworking in discharging their mandate.

It noted that the National Chairman cautioned against infighting and backbiting, which he said had weakened the Front in the past, and urged them to reach out to all cadres across the region to revive, reorganise and mobilise members around the objectives of the UCF.

The release said Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, in his keynote address, acknowledged the historic and continuing contributions of cadres to Ghana’s democratic dispensation and pledged his administration’s readiness to collaborate with the UCF, the primary umbrella organisation and political vanguard for the veteran and youth cadres of the ruling NDC, to advance the party’s agenda in the Volta Region.

It said Mr Gunu deemed the party’s victory in the 2024 elections as anchored on hard work and dedication, thus, the efforts of all contributors must be consolidated for the benefit of Ghanaians.

The release said the “Regional Minister outlined a number of development priorities, including the government’s intention to expand the Big Push initiative in 2027 to include the provision of potable drinking water for Ghanaians.”

It added that Mr Gunu also identified plans aimed at expanding opportunities and building the capacities of young people in the region which included establishing an industrial park on 1,500 acres of land reportedly already procured at Adaklu, with the aim of creating jobs for young people.

Also, launching the Volta Youth in Agriculture initiative in 2027, including encouraging young people to adopt irrigation-based farming methods; and establishing a Young Entrepreneurs Fund, with planned disbursements of GH₵10,000 per beneficiary.

“Hon Gunu called on the UCF to make itself available to support the implementation of government projects. He stressed the need for collective effort and said his administration would mobilise stakeholders towards delivering development for the Volta Region,” the release concluded.
