Kete-Krachi (O/R) Sept 26, GNA – The Krachi West Municipal Assembly in the Oti Region has supported outstanding candidates of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) with essential items to facilitate their transition to Senior High School (SHS).
The items presented to selected fresh SHS entrants included chop boxes, suitcase bags, pillows and mattresses.
The initiative forms part of the Assembly’s efforts to promote education and reduce the financial burden on parents and guardians, particularly during the period when families are required to provide several essential items for their children’s admission to secondary schools.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr Prosper Addo, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said the intervention was intended to ease the financial pressure on parents while encouraging students to remain committed to their education.
He said investment in young people was critical to the future development of the municipality, adding that the Assembly would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving educational outcomes in the area.
Mr Addo noted that although the 2026 BECE presented some challenges, candidates from the municipality performed relatively well.
He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the support and remain disciplined and focused on their studies to make the municipality proud.
The MCE cautioned the students against negative peer influence, drug abuse and other behaviours that could undermine their education and prospects.
He encouraged them to uphold discipline, respect school authorities and remain committed to their academic and personal development.
Mr Samuel Yao Dovulo, the Municipal Education Director, commended the MCE and the Assembly for their continued support for education in the municipality.
He described the gesture as timely, saying it would help ease some of the financial challenges confronting parents and guardians as their children entered SHS.
Mr Dovulo advised the beneficiaries to avoid negative peer influence, take their studies seriously and remain focused on their educational goals.
Some beneficiaries, including students admitted to St Monica’s Senior High School and other institutions, expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the support.
They pledged to use the items responsibly, work hard and excel in their respective schools.
