Techiman, (Bono East), Aug. 18, GNA – A total of 1,156 students who underwent graduate and undergraduate degree programmes have graduated from the Valley View University (VVU).

Of the number 700 graduated from the university’s main campus in Accra, 237 from the Kumasi campus and 219 from the Techiman campus.

Speaking at the 34th graduation ceremony held at the Techiman campus in the Bono East Region, Professor Daniel Ganu, Vice Chancellor of VVU, challenged the graduates to cherish and protect their integrity as they entered the labour market.

He said there would be moments when their character, rather than intelligence, would be tested, and urged them to avoid shortcuts to success.

Prof. Ganu urged the graduates to pursue excellence with integrity, explaining that integrity and excellence meant giving their best even when nobody was watching.

“It means refusing to settle for the average when you know that you can do better,” he added, saying integrity would make them dependable.

Prof. Ganu advised the graduates to take advantage of technological evolution and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to build and transform their professions, while acquiring new skills to remain relevant in the labour market.

“The degrees you have acquired may open closed doors, but attitude, competence and willingness to grow will determine how many more doors would be opened to you,” he stated.

Prof. Ganu told the graduates that their certificates showed what they had studied, but their integrity demonstrated who they had become.

He noted that although the nation required skilled graduates, it also needed a trusted workforce that could be entrusted with money, information and responsibility.

Prof. Ganu urged the graduates to cherish and protect their names, reputation and conscience, warning that a quick rise in life without character could end in a painful fall, while success built on truth and trust had a solid foundation.

He emphasised that it was right to desire good jobs, financial security, comfortable homes and professional success, but cautioned them not to allow life to become solely about what they could gain.

Prof. Ganu said the university was introducing new programmes in Law, Cybersecurity, Medicine, Engineering and Artificial Intelligence.
