Techiman, (Bono East), Aug. 17, GNA – Mr Ibrahim Bukari-Baba, Bono East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called for strengthened unity within the party ahead of the 2028 General Election.
He said the NPP required a formidable political front to win the next election, stressing that without unity, the party would struggle to regain political power.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Techiman, Mr Bukari-Baba said he retained his position in the just-ended regional executive election, polling 180 of the 254 valid votes cast.
He defeated his sole contender, Mr Thomas Adu Appiah, who secured 73 votes in the election conducted and supervised by the Electoral Commission.
“This is the time we have to unite our front and work hard to enhance our political fortunes by winning the empathy of the electorate and return our great party to political power,” he said.
Mr Bukari-Baba noted that party unity remained the surest way for the NPP to secure political victory, adding that it was essential for building a formidable political front.
He said the newly elected executives were committed to bringing everyone on board, including the party’s Council of Elders, to ensure effective political activities in the region.
Mr Bukari-Baba also pledged the executives’ commitment to operating an open-door and all-inclusive administration.
In another interview, Mr Kwabena Frimpong, Chairman of the Bono East Regional Elections Committee of the NPP, commended the delegates, supporters and stakeholders for their contributions towards a successful election.
He congratulated the winners and commended all candidates for accepting the outcome of the polls in good faith.
