NPP’s focus is 2028 election victory – Dr Bawumia

Accra, Aug. 18, GNA – Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has said the party’s primary objective is to win political power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 general elections.

He said the ongoing reorganisation of the party was aimed at rebuilding its structures, strengthening its membership and preparing it for the next general election.

Dr Bawumia said this when the newly elected Greater Accra Regional executives of the NPP called on him at his residence following the party’s regional executive elections.

The executives include Ms Joana Adda Frances, First Vice Chairperson; Mr Prince Obeng, Organiser; Mr Moses Abor, Youth Organiser; Ms Grace Acheampong, Women’s Organiser; and Mr Jeff Kasim, Nasara Organiser.

The former Vice President urged the new executives to commit themselves to the reorganisation process and work to strengthen the party at all levels.

He said the regional elections formed part of a broader reorganisation process and should not be regarded as the end of the party’s internal activities.

“The goal for all of us is to win the 2028 election. This is just a stepping stone towards winning 2028. As a party, we have been engaged in an exercise of reorganisation. We have had our polling station elections, our electoral area elections, we have had our constituency elections, and we have now had our regional elections.

“We will culminate that process on October 10 with the national elections and therefore, at the end of that, the party will be in a good position to have that vehicle that drives us to victory in 2028. So there is a lot of work ahead of us,” he said.

Dr Bawumia said the regional executives should regard their election as a responsibility and use their positions to contribute to rebuilding and repositioning the party ahead of the 2028 elections.

Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye, newly elected Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NPP, pledged to work towards securing Dr Bawumia’s election as President of Ghana.

He said his administration would focus on service, unity and grassroots mobilisation as part of efforts to rebuild the party’s support base in the region.
