Sunyani (Bono), Aug 18, GNA – The Council of Bono and Ahafo Associations of North America (COBAANA) has constructed a borehole facility at Aboabo Number three in the Dormaa Municipality of the Bono Region, to provide potable water for the community.
The Association, which is the largest umbrella organisation for Ghanaians residing in North America, said the facility marked another significant milestone in its commitment to improving the health, dignity, and quality of life of communities across Ghana.
A statement issued and signed by Dr Degraft Kwafo Gyan, the Chairman of COBAANA, explained that the facility had provided residents of Aboabo Number with access to clean, and reliable drinking water.
A copy of the statement made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), explained that the support had addressed one of the most fundamental needs of any healthy and thriving community.
It noted that reliable access to clean and safe drinking water remained one of the most effective ways to improve public health, as it helped reduce the spread of waterborne diseases, promoted proper hygiene and sanitation, supported healthier families, and contributed to a better quality of life.
COBAANA believed that potable water should not be considered a luxury, but a necessity and a fundamental component of community development, it said.
The statement extended COBAANA’s profound gratitude and sincere appreciation to Mr Ahmed Hashum and Nana Afia Pomaa for their generous support and financial contributions toward the successful construction of the facility.
“Their willingness to invest in the well-being of the people demonstrates the tremendous impact that individuals can have when they respond to community needs with compassion, generosity, and a spirit of service,” it indicated.
It said COBAANA recognises that projects of this nature could not be accomplished without the commitment and sacrifice of dedicated supporters.
“The organisation therefore celebrates Mr Ahmed Hashum and Nana Afia Pomaa for helping turn a vision into a reality for the people of Aboabo Number three,” adding that their generosity had provided more than water, hope and an opportunity for a healthier future for the people of the community.
The statement noted that the completion of the Aboabo Number three project was part of COBAANA’s broader commitment to community development in the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo regions.
COBAANA is also continuing its efforts to bring clean and safe water to other communities where access to potable water remains a challenge.
It said the organisation believed that sustainable development begins by addressing fundamental needs and creating the conditions in which communities can thrive.
The Association therefore called on philanthropists, corporate organisations, community leaders, development partners, and individuals to join the hands in supporting additional water and community development projects.
It pledged its commitment to promoting the welfare of its members and mobilising resources, partnerships, and expertise, to support sustainable community development in the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo regions of Ghana.
It stated that it was presently advancing its major dialysis and medical project in Sunyani, the Bono Regional capital.
The project was initiated in response to the growing healthcare needs of people suffering from kidney disease and the limited availability of specialised renal services in the region.
The statement added that the project was intended to provide accessible and quality dialysis services to patients in the Bono Region and surrounding areas, including communities in the Bono East and Ahafo regions and other neighboring areas.
