Dambai (O/R), Aug. 20, GNA – Madam Olivia Yawa Aglago, the newly elected Oti Regional Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has extended an olive branch to her contender in the just-ended regional executive elections, Madam Alice Adwoa Mensah, with a call for unity and reconciliation.

Madam Aglago, who contested the Regional Women’s Organiser position against Madam Mensah, emerged victorious in the 2026 Oti Regional Executive Elections.

As part of efforts to foster unity following the election, Madam Aglago paid a courtesy call on Madam Mensah, to demonstrate her commitment to reconciliation and collective action in the interest of the party.

During the meeting, Madam Aglago urged Madam Mensah and her supporters to put aside any differences that might have emerged during the electoral contest and join hands with the new leadership to strengthen the NPP’s structures in the region.

She said the conclusion of the elections should mark the beginning of a new chapter of cooperation, stressing the party’s common objective of regaining political power required unity, tolerance and the active participation of all members.

Madam Aglago further called on Madam Mensah to bring her experience, knowledge and ideas to bear on the activities of the Regional Women’s Wing.

She said her administration was open to constructive contributions from all members and would require the collective efforts of party faithful to build a stronger and more vibrant Women’s Wing capable of mobilising women across the region.

Madam Aglago said the contest should create lasting divisions but rather serve as an opportunity for the party to identify its strengths, learn from the electoral process and consolidate its structures ahead of future political engagements.

Responding to the gesture, Madam Mensah warmly welcomed Madam Aglago’s call for unity and pledged her support and cooperation to the newly elected Regional Women’s Organiser.

She expressed her commitment to working with Madam Aglago in the collective interest of the NPP and contributing her experience towards building a strong, united and effective Regional Women’s Wing.

The two women reaffirmed their commitment to placing the interests of the party above individual differences and working together to promote unity, mutual respect and cooperation among members.

The meeting is expected to contribute to the healing of relationships following the regional elections and strengthen collaboration among women within the party as the NPP prepares for its future political activities.

Madam Aglago was accompanied by Dr Frank Awuah, Oti Regional Secretary; Mr Stephen Obikyenbi Junior, Secretary to the Regional Women’s Organizer and other party members.

The meeting ended on a positive note, with both Madam Aglago and Madam Mensah reaffirming their commitment to unity and cooperation towards strengthening the NPP’s organisational structures and political fortunes in the Oti Region.
