Accra, Aug. 13, GNA – The Adventist World Radio (AWR) has announced plans to expand its Radio Ministry aimed at transforming lives especially across its territories in Ghana.
Pastor Immanuel Osoro Ogwal, the Africa Region President of the AWR, gave the announcement during a visit to Pastor Col. (Rtd) Peter Nyarko Duodu, the President of the South-East Ghana Union Mission (SEGUM), and other Unions of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, ahead of a radio training programme slated for next year in Kumasi.
He said the visit also formed part of efforts by the AWR to strengthen existing partnerships and extend the mission of AWR in various parts of the country.
Pastor Ogwal said AWR’s global strategy was built around four key priorities which includes quality content, reaching people everywhere, making disciples and building support for the ministry.
“The organisation’s focus is not only aimed at producing programmes with good technical quality but also in ensuring that the content was capable of making meaningful impact in society, particularly transforming lives,” he added.
The Africa Region President said AWR had already made significant investments in Ghana, including the acquisition of a radio station in Kumasi broadcasting Adventist message.
He added that AWR had also supported the South West Ghana Union Conference with an amount of money to purchase airtime on radio stations that were not owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Pastor Ogwal said the initiative had yielded encouraging results and would provide additional support while exploring further opportunities to expand its ministry in the country.
Pastor Kwakye Adeefe, President of the South-West Ghana Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, in his welcome address said Pastor Ogwal’s visit was important in preparing the church for the planned training programme as well as strengthening AWR activities in Ghana.
He said the engagement would provide an opportunity for the various Adventist Unions to put the necessary structures in place ahead of the training and other radio evangelism initiatives.
He added that it would also strengthen collaboration between AWR Africa and the Adventist Church in Ghana and help improve radio evangelism across the country.
