75 physical infrastructure development projects underway in Banda

Banda Ahenkro, (Bono), Oct. 6, GNA – Mr Peter Dongi, Banda District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Bono Region says about 75 major physical infrastructure development projects were being executed across the district to improve living standards.  

He said the projects were evidence of the government’s commitment to tackle the district’s infrastructural deficit, and to stimulate economic growth and sustainable development.  

Mr Dongi said this at a forum on the “Accounting to the people” at Banda-Ahenkro, explaining that the projects covered Education, Healthcare, Roads, Water and Sanitation, Security and other critical sectors spread across the communities.  

On education, the DCE  mentioned classroom blocks, dormitories, teachers and nurses’ quarters and others as Police station, Community-based Health Planning Service (CHPS) compounds as some of the ongoing projects.  

Mr Dongi said construction work on some of the projects had already been completed while others were also at the various stages of construction.  

Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, Member of Parliament (MP) for Banda Constituency noted that the level of infrastructure development in the area showed evidence that the government remained committed towards the development of the Banda District.  

“Some of these major infrastructure projects are taking place because we have a vision and direction for the district,” he said.  

Mr Ibrahim, who is also the Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources, reiterated his commitment to using his position to advance the development of the district and empower members of the communities to spearhead development.  

Mr Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister, said the government had contributed significantly to the development of the Banda District, adding that by the end of its four-year term, development would have been extended to all parts of the district.  

He said more than 250 kilometres of roads were currently under construction across the region, while about 140 Ghana Education Trust Fund projects were being executed.
