Kasseh-Ada, Aug. 22, GNA — Naana Adiki Manyeyo Adi I, the Queen Mother of the Royal Adibiawe Clan and President of the Ada Queen Mothers Consortium, says the Ada State is making significant progress in chieftaincy affairs and deserves commendation.

She said several positive changes had taken place in the traditional administration of the Ada state over the years, particularly with the introduction of divisional chiefs and, subsequently, queen mothers.

The QueenMother said the developments had strengthened the traditional governance structure and created greater opportunities for traditional leaders to contribute to the development of their communities.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Naana Adi said the Ada Traditional Council had also constituted the Ada Queen Mothers Consortium, to coordinate the activities of the queens and support development within the traditional area.

“The Consortium has really helped us as queen mothers to unite for a common goal,” she said.

She disclosed that several queen mothers were contributing to community development through initiatives focused on girl-child empowerment, adolescent education and other social interventions.

“Naana Lomoki Lomo, Naana Akumtu Bisensu, Naana Ohui Ametor, and many queen mothers are doing extremely well and must be commended. I cannot mention all of them, but I think queen mothers are doing well,” she stated.

She, however, expressed concern that queen mothers were currently not represented on the Ada Traditional Council, saying she hoped that the situation would change in the future.

She said the inclusion of some queen mothers on the council would enable them to contribute directly to discussions and decision-making on matters affecting the traditional area.

“As queen mothers, we are not part of the traditional council, but we know that as the leadership agreed to introduce queen mothers and subsequently constituted a consortium to coordinate our activities, a time will come when some queen mothers will be added to the council, at least the leadership,” she advocated.

Naana Adi further emphasised the authority of the Ada Traditional Council, describing it as the highest decision-making body within the Ada Traditional Area, and cautioned that individuals who deliberately disregarded the council’s directives or decisions could face disciplinary action.

She called on traditional leaders, residents and other stakeholders to respect the authority of the council and work together to preserve peace, unity and development in the Ada Traditional Area.
