Woman supports children’s education, upkeep with income from fish-smoking and trade

Accra, July 8, GNA – For two decades, Aunty Aya from Atakyem has dedicated her life to the fish-smoking business—a craft she learned from her mother and is now passing down to her own children.

Aunty Aya’s story mirrors the intersection of personal resilience and family commitment. Through the steady profits of her hard work, and with the help of a supportive partner, she funded the upkeep and education of their six children.

Her journey highlights both the challenging working conditions and the dedication common among Ghana’s coastal women entrepreneurs.
