Use your platforms to drive development – Gunu tells content creators, bloggers

By Caleb Kuleke

Ho, July 25, GNA – Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister has urged content creators and bloggers to strategically utilise their digital platforms to drive socio-economic development across the region.

He said the Volta Region was a treasure trove of economic opportunities that can rapidly accelerate regional development if given the right media visibility.

Mr Gunu said this when members of the Content Creators and Bloggers Association of the Volta and Oti regions paid a courtesy call on him at his residency.

He emphasised that the region holds immense, untapped potential across several key sectors including agriculture, aquaculture, sports, tourism and entrepreneurship, charging the association to market this potential to the rest of the world.

The Minister said the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council (VRCC) was ready to partner with the association to project the region’s economic potential, attract strategic investors, and drive job creation.

He implored them to be ethical and exhibit a high level of professionalism in the discharge of the duties, as they played a pivotal role as stakeholders in accelerating the development of the region.

Mr Gunu emphasised that the rising speed of news delivery must not compromise truth, fairness, and accuracy, urging them to commit to verification before publications, to avoid damaging someone’s reputation.

The Minister observed that the media landscape had entered an era where traditional outlets occasionally relied on digital media platforms to function.

However, he was worried that certain individuals within the industry had been exploiting this shift, to abuse the system.

Mr Gunu emphasised that modern media practices must be guided by a deep sense of patriotism, nationalism, and a genuine passion for national development.

Mr Simon Hedeka, the President of the Association, expressed appreciation to the Minister for his guidance and pledged the group’s commitment to collaborating with the VRCC in projecting the region’s potential to enhance socio-economic development.
