Accra, Sept. 27, GNA – Ghana’s national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, have been drawn in Group D of the 2026 World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) World Cup alongside Colombia, Iraq and Angola.
The draw ceremony, held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, determined the group-stage fixtures for the tournament, which is scheduled to take place in Mexico.
The Black Challenge would face a challenging group as they seek to make an impact at the global competition and continue Ghana’s growing presence in international amputee football.
The draw outcome gives Ghana’s technical team a clearer picture of the task ahead and provides an opportunity to begin detailed preparations based on the strengths and playing styles of their opponents.
The team’s campaign is expected to attract significant attention from sports enthusiasts across the country as Ghana aims for a strong showing on the world stage.
As part of preparations for the tournament, administrative and media arrangements are also being strengthened, with broadcaster Theophilus Sampah serving as the official Media Officer for the Black Challenge.
The 2026 WAFF World Cup in Mexico is expected to bring together some of the world’s best amputee football teams in a celebration of talent, resilience and sportsmanship.
